Meet the team for 2020

Carol

Carol enjoys cruising along the Fernleigh Track and riding around Newcastle’s beaches. She says that she was a late bloomer to cycling but now she’s hooked.
In 2019 Carol regularly raced in HWC colours, and took this huge trophy home after winning Newcastle’s annual women’s handicap race.
Her goals for 2020 include riding more hills, improving her road racing at HEZ and starting to ride mountain bikes.

Georgia

New recruit Georgia rounded out 2019 by completing The Pioneer (a mountain bike stage race) and bringing a green and gold jersey home from Armidale after riding her mountain bike around in circles for 24 hours.
In 2020, she’s looking forward to learning more about the dark art or road racing, surviving her first Olympic distance triathlon, racing the Port2Port with Karen and another 24 solo with Janelle.

Jane

You can find Jane catching sunrise along Newcastle’s coastline most mornings- especially if the Friday Friendly bunch is out and about.
Jane is the brains behind the @hunterwomenscycling instagram account this year… go and check out her photos from cycling adventures in the Dolomites and you’ll understand why!

Janelle

The first time Janelle ever rode her mountain bike at night, was at the 24 hour solo National Championships in 2019. She figured she had plenty of time to learn!
Janelle has raced road bikes and BMX. She’s got the best jumping skillz in the team this year!
Janelle finished her first Ironman triathlon in 2019 and she’s heading back to Port Mac in May this year to do it all again.

Karen

Karen is our fearless leader and El Capitan.
She has 17 years of triathlons under her belt, including a full Ironman and not one… but 9 half Ironmans!
Karen has taken gold and silver medals home from the NSW Masters Road and Time Trial Championships.
Off road, she’s been on the first and second steps of the Elite Women’s podium at the Wollombi Wild Ride.

Karen is gearing up for the Port2Port mountain bike stage race in May this year.

Tresa

Tresa has been a long-term member of HWC and the local racing scene. She’s ticked of some classic rides in the HWC kit (including quite a few kilometres in Bowral!)
Tresa spends her weekends racing her roadie and exploring the Holmesville trails on her new MTB.
She is gearing up for some big adventures in Maitland, Merriwa and maybe Mudgee in 2020.
